Issue

If we handle your WordPress and plugin updates, our Updates Team is starting to update WP Rocket to the newest version. Our team is doing this very cautiously and slowly.

Custom Delay JavaScript exclusions - Our main concern with this update was the change in the Delay JavaScript feature which flipped it from an “opt-in” setting to an “opt-out” setting. There are certain scripts we feel should never be Delayed. We’ve added a list of custom exclusions to remove certain scripts from the new WP Rocket Delay JavaScript setup via our NerdPress Support plugin. You can check out the list of scripts we’ve excluded here: https://github.com/blogtutor/blog-tutor-support/issues/152

So, even though you won’t see these scripts excluded in the WP Rocket settings, they are being excluded by our plugin.

Updates Timeline - With the extra caution and extra checks, the updating process may take a couple of weeks to fully roll out to all sites. So, if we do your updates and your site isn’t updated to WP Rocket 3.9.0.5 this week, know that we will get to it, but we’re doing our best to prevent things from breaking.

If you handle your own plugin updates, please read the following recommendations for a safe as a possible method of updating your site to the newest version of WP Rocket:

  1. Make sure your "NerdPress Support" plugin is updated to version 1.0.2 before you update WP Rocket.
  2. Update WP Rocket all by itself -- don't run any other concurrent updates.
  3. Let UpdraftPlus run a backup before the WP Rocket update runs.
  4. After the WP Rocket update is finished, test your site on a desktop computer and mobile phone. Pay special attention to features that have actions-on-click, like mobile menus, mobile search, buttons, icons, etc.
  5. You will need to "cache bust" your pages to see changes without clearing your site caches. You can do this by adding "?test=X" (no quotes needed) to the end of a URL you are testing. (Change the X to anything really and change your string after the X if you are testing the same page more than once.)
  6. Once everything looks good after testing with cache busting, you can clear your site caches.

If you run into any site-specific issues after updating please send our support team an email.
