Monitoring

As far as we’re aware, the use of Google automated verification system or “wizard” for Google Analytics, Google Search Console, or any other Google product continue to cause issues that can break DNS records.

Issue

Please do not use any sort of Google automated verification system or “wizard” for Google Analytics, Google Search Console, or any other Google product.

If you need a DNS record added for verification, please contact our support, and we can help you get it added manually.

Google uses an automated DNS verification system for some of their tools, like Google Analytics and Google Search Console. This is often used to verify ownership of a domain and involves automatically adding a DNS record to the domain settings.

It appears the automated process also deletes the DNS record used to connect sites to NerdPress Cloudflare Enterprise, which takes the site offline.

We are attempting to contact Google support (no easy task) about this issue to see if we can prevent this issue from happening. Until then, we’re happy to help add verification records for you.
