WordPress 6.1.1 - OK to Update

If your site is currently on version 6.1.0, we recommend updating to 6.1.1.

We had been holding off on updating WordPress to 6.1.1 due to rumors of bug fixes being released in version 6.1.2. However, the core team decided that the few bugs in 6.1.1 didn’t need fixing immediately, so they’ve pushed those fixes to version 6.2, which is anticipated to be released at the end of this month.

This means…

IF WE MANAGE YOUR UPDATES

We’ll be updating your site to WordPress 6.1.1 this week.

IF YOU MANAGE YOUR OWN UPDATES

It’s safe to update to WordPress core 6.1.1 if you haven’t already. As always, be safe and let UpdraftPlus run a backup before you proceed.

Issue

The bugs and plugin conflicts are really starting to stack up on the new core version of WordPress 6.1. If we manage your site updates, we will not be updating core until January, by which time a bug-fix version will be out.

If you manage your own updates, we STRONGLY recommend you DO NOT update to this version of WordPress.

If you have updated and notice issues, you can rollback to version 6.0.3 using the WP Downgrade plugin - https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-downgrade/.
